"Responsible for the billing service" tells a reader nothing. "Rebuilt the billing service, cutting failed charges from 4% to 0.6%" tells them what you can do for them. If you have a number, it belongs in the bullet.

If the job says "distributed systems" and your resume says "large-scale backend", a keyword scan may not connect them. Use their words for the things you have genuinely done.

Four to six bullets for your current job, two or three for the one before, one line each for anything older than about eight years. Space on the page should track relevance, not chronology.
